the great story of

La Roulotte à Patates of Gentilly

Novelty at Gentilly!

Paul Bécotte creates a spring meeting point: La Roulotte à Patates. Saturday May 4 1946 in the parking lot of the Hôtel Dubord. On the menu: French fries .05¢, Hot-Dog .05¢ , Liqueur .05¢ (on Friday the sausage will be replaced by fries with butter and/or mustard). We are waiting for you in large numbers! N.B. there will be chore of folding boxes of fries for the occasion. Thanks: Roberte Trottier for the idea of selling fries! Yvette Beaudoin-Baril for 20 years of peeling potatoes by hand!

Good news!

The trailer left its four-wheeler, the horse has retired. Thanks to the good care of Robert Hould, the red and white is now moving on a 1936 Chevrolet with a one-gallon tank (by the way, we are looking for someone to push because we ran out of gas last night on our way home). Come and meet us on our new site at the restaurant Fernand Tourigny (Vieux Tilly). Thanks: Canon Letendre; the priest who gave us his permission, Guy Trottier, the first employee!

Attention all!

The trailer is moving again! Following the acquisition of the Gentilly Knitting Miles building, the trailer moved to this site. All Gentillais and our visitors are invited to join us. New on the menu: poutine! Come in large numbers we are waiting for you!

New administration!

It is now Pierre Bécotte, Paul’s youngest son who takes over: for 15 years he maintains the old trailer by making repairs each year. Her last trip to her wintering spot was in 1999 and she almost caught fire on the way so… a change is needed!

A nice new trailer!

La Roulotte à Patates is built a little bigger and higher…. no more bending over to wash the dishes! With the help of Micheline Laurin, his wife, we will take the opportunity to add smoked-meat poutine and Italian poutine. The chicken thighs and breasts as well as the famous Supreme Hot-Dog are also present!

The administration is getting younger…

it is now Julie Desbiens, the daughter-in-law of Pierre Bécotte, working at La Roulotte since 1993, who acquires it. Same service! Same recipes! With some new features like the pizza roll, the Will-dog and the Fire poutine!!!

La Roulotte is 75 years old!

We're celebrating with a new website, online ordering, delivery and Le Chili à Pépé!

La Roulotte à Patates goes green!

Eco-responsible actions make their appearance. Styrofoam has been replaced by real, unbreakable melamine crockery! Many takeaway containers are now reusable. A sorting station and a new sustainable terrace have arrived. Mini portions to avoid food waste. These actions have brought us huge environmental benefits, including the removal of our huge waste container!

The accolades have been piling up, inspiring those around us to take care of our beautiful planet too:

  • Prix Excellence Tourisme 2023-Responsible and sustainable tourism
  • Gala Noël CCICQ 2022- L’Écoresponsable
  • Certification in Sustainable Development 2022 Pro Action SADC- L’Engagé
  • Certificate of Recognition Ville de Bécancour awarded to Julie Desbiens – Rayonnement Bécancour

New on the menu: Organic and local smoked tofu guédille and a healthy option: replace your bread with a bed of lettuce!
